Girl, forgive...

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” — Buddha

Forgiveness is not something we do for others; it is something we do for ourselves. I remember the day I decided to forgive those who had wronged me and to let go. I cried that day. I cried A LOT! and it felt good! It was actually at church. My preacher talked about forgiveness and how it holds us back, and it resonated with me so much. I began to assess my mental health and how holding on to past hurt was getting in the way of my happiness and joy. I had told myself many times prior that I forgave people, but I still held on. It was as if holding on to pain was better than letting go. What was I gaining from that pain? The answer is NOTHING substantial. I was miserable and was ‘fake’ happy. I would live in the past and not the present.

Sister, do not let this be you. Forgive and let go. Here is why: -You free yourself from pain, anger, unhappiness, and sadness -You take charge of your life -You let go of the need to control the narrative -You become a winner and not a victim -You choose a brighter life over a life of sorrows and possible vengeance-seeking -You allow your heart to welcome love, peace, and joy (Don’t you want that?) Free yourself and start living your best life! You deserve it! Much Love, Audrey
